Education Solutions for Long Term Care was
formed in 1998 by nurse practitioners to meet
the educational needs of nurses caring for
geriatric patients in extended care facilities
at a time when the health care industry was
undergoing dramatic changes.
Among the many changes occurring at that time
were significant increases in the number of
acutely ill patients who were being transferred
to sub-acute units for nursing care.
It was no longer unusual for nurses in these
units, who were trained to care for patients
with chronic medical conditions, to now care
for patients only three days after a bowel
resection or four days after coronary artery
bypass surgery. Caring for patients with acute
medical conditions, as well as orthopedic
joint replacement and dialysis patients also
became standard.
As nurse practitioners working in both internal
medicine and extended care facilities, we
became concerned about nurses at these facilities
who did not have the requisite skills and
knowledge necessary to care for patients with
complex medical needs.
In response to this situation, Education
Solutions developed programs specifically
designed to provide these nurses with the
additional training they needed to handle
the acute care requirements of their patients.
Since that time, we have continued to develop
programs to meet the ever-changing needs
of nurses working in long-term care facilities,
as well as programs to accommodate increasing
requests for facility-specific seminars
and workshops.
Here is a sample of the services
we provide…
Our mission at Education Solutions is simple
and straightforward … to provide nurses
with the knowledge and skills they need
to keep pace with the increasing demands
of the long term care industry and, in doing
so, to continue improving the quality of
health care delivery today, tomorrow and
in the years ahead.
