Ruth Elio RN, BS
Hospice Nurse Liaison
As a nurse for over 25 years, Ruth has enjoyed
various roles and duties. Caring for patients
in acute stages of an illness, the joys
of childbirth, and then at the end of life
has afforded her the opportunity to educate,
provide quality care and offer comfort and
compassion to both patients and their families.
Currently, Ruth is a Liaison Nurse at
Hospice Care Inc., in Woburn. Improving
the understanding of what hospice is and
how it can assist individuals and families
at a profoundly difficult time in their
lives as well as enhancing end of life
for individuals is her goal. Recently
Ruth's experience with hospice took on
a more personal note when her father's
battle with cancer progressed to the point
that he became a hospice patient. Being
allowed to be a family member to experience
first hand the holistic hospice approach
to death and dying truly benefited her
ability to teach and understand more deeply
the true hospice experience.
Ruth focuses on presenting accurate information,
clarifying myths surrounding hospice,
and sharing the method in which one may
obtain hospice services to benefit the
patient, family, and facilities of residence.
Providing information that empowers individuals
to make informed choices when seeking
appropriate medical care and treatment
has been a truly rewarding and satisfying
aspect of her career.
